On August 18th, 2023, a tragic accident occurred in Mapinga, Zimbabwe, involving a Mahindra vehicle and a cross-border Trip Trans bus. The incident resulted in the death of four individuals, including two Chinhoyi police officers.
According to the National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the accident occurred at around 10:30 am local time. The Mahindra vehicle was traveling from Zimbabwe into South Africa when it collided with the Trip Trans bus, which was heading in the opposite direction.
The impact of the collision caused significant damage to both vehicles, and all four individuals involved were killed instantly. The two Chinhoyi police officers who perished in the accident were identified as Constable Muzenda and Constable Nyambo.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi stated that an investigation into the incident is currently underway, and the cause of the accident is being determined. He also expressed his condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
