Zesa explains national power blackout

Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) has announced a national power blackout that affected the entire country this morning at 5:22 am. The cause of the outage was a busbar fault at the Insukamini 330kV substation in Bulawayo, which led to the loss of power on the national grid.

A busbar is a horizontal bar that carries electrical current in a power distribution system. A fault in the busbar can cause a surge of electricity, leading to a power outage. In this case, the surge was so severe that it caused the entire national grid to trip offline.

Zesa has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the blackout and is working to restore power as soon as possible. The utility company has not yet provided an estimated time for when power will be restored, but they are working around the clock to fix the issue.

It is important to note that this is a rare occurrence in Zimbabwe and it is not clear what caused the busbar fault at the Insukamini substation. However, Zesa has assured the public that they are taking all necessary steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
