Rams announce terms of Tre'Davious White contract

The Los Angeles Rams have officially signed cornerback Tre'Davious White to a new contract, according to an announcement made by the team on March 15, 2023. White, who previously played for the Buffalo Bills, is set to join the Rams on a five-year deal worth $70 million with $37 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports.

White, 27, was a first-round pick (27th overall) by the Buffalo Bills in the 2017 NFL Draft out of LSU. He quickly established himself as a top-tier cornerback in the league, earning Pro Bowl honors in each of his first three seasons with Buffalo. In 2022, he was named a second-team All-Pro after recording 61 tackles, 14 passes defensed, and 3 interceptions.

White's departure from Buffalo came as a surprise, as he had expressed a desire to remain with the team and was reportedly seeking a long-term extension. However, with the Bills prioritizing other areas of need in free agency and unable to meet White's price tag, he became an attractive target for other teams.

The Rams, who finished 12-5 and reached the Super Bowl in the 2022 season, were reportedly in the market for a top-tier cornerback to bolster their secondary. With Jalen Ramsey already established as a shutdown corner, White is expected to slot in as the team's other starting cornerback opposite him.

White's signing marks a significant investment by the Rams in their secondary, as they also re-signed safety Jordan Fuller to a three-year extension earlier in free agency. With a strong secondary and a potent offense led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp, the Rams are poised to be a formidable contender in the NFC for the 2023 season and beyond.
